I decided to recreate a local piece of public art, which I blogged about here, in nail art form. This is the original….
….and this is the nail art
Tutorial after the jump…
So, I started off by painting all of my nails with two coats of Rimmel Lycra Pro in Aqua Cool, with the exception of my ring finger, which was two coats of Sinful Colors Exotic Green. Aqua Cool really is the most gorgeous shade of pale, periwinkle blue.
Next up, I applied Barry M Confetti in Bubblegum to the ring and little fingers, to represent the rain. On the ring finger, I used the corner of a make up sponge to dab a little Barry M in Mushroom on, because the photo was taken in autumn, and so the leaves were turning.
I used a nail art brush to paint on the umbrella canopies – one coat of Nails Inc King Edward Street (red), and two coats of Barry M Gelly in Mango (orange). I also used the brush element of a Rio nail art pen to draw the leaf’s veins on.
Finally, I added a second coat of Barry M confetti, and used the pen element of the same black Rio nail art pen to add the outlines to the umbrellas. After that, I added a clear top coat, and cleaner up around the edges using a brush dipped in pure acetone.
