GOTpolish Challenge: Chevrons

For today’s GOTpolish challenge, I’ve done a blue and nude fishtail chevron mani. They’re super simple to do, and you don’t need ANY tools to do them – not even a nail art brush! You can find a tutorial over at Chalkboard Nails

The two polishes are Barry M Gelly in Blueberry and Lychee

GOTpolish: Dots

The original plan was to do a Minnie Mouse inspired design today, but then that became a guest post over at Brijit’s Digits, so a new design was in order!

The blue is 17 in Heart Beat, which I picked up for 50p in the Boots clearance recently, so it was something of a bargain! I’m still yet to work out why a pale blue is called heart beat though, as a blue heart normally means no oxygen, so i’s not beating …aaand I’ll leave it there. Maybe they pick the names out of a hat.

I then did a row of overlapping white dots in OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, followed by a line of black dots in Nails Inc New York Noir. Finally, in the centre of each black dot I added a smaller dot of Heart Beat.

I’m also something of a fan of polka dots, and there are loooads more designs here.

Theme Buffet: Weather

So, the theme for this week’s FingerFood’s Theme Buffet is weather! Exciting stuff – and something we certainly seem to have had enough of recently!

England is known for having ‘four seasons in one day’, so I knew that I wanted to have lots of different types of weather in this nail design. To start, I used two coats of 17 in Heart Beat, which is a pale blue. For the index and little fingers, I then added a coat of Barry M confetti in Bubblegum, which I think looks a bit like rain. The clouds on my middle finger and thumb were created using OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and a small nail art brush. Finally, for the sun  I used Barry M in Lemon Ice Cream.

Chevron Studs

Rather simple, and I like this design so much I’ve done it twice now!

Two coats of Barry M Gelly in Lychee to start with. Then, using a nail art brush, two coats of Barry M Gelly in Blueberry in the shape of a triangle. Once that’s dry, add a coat of your favourite clear top coat, and then stick a stud on the point of the triangle. Finally, add another clear top coat on to seal in the stud.

Will You Bee Mine?

An unusually summery design for these cold winter months! I don’t normally do designs which are essentially one picture painted across five nails. In this instance, the dots represent the bee’s path across the sky.

Created using Rimmel Lycra Pro in Aqua Cool for the sky, with Rio nail art pens in yellow, black and dark blue for the design.

In The Navy

Created using Rimmel Salon Pro in Navy Seal and a Rio nail art pen in white – this is a really quick design to do, because it’s just two lines across all your fingers except the ring finger, and a simple anchor on your accent ring finger.
