Tripolish Challenge: Brown, Pink and Grey

So, we’re into February, and month two of the Tripolish challenge! I have to admit that I’ve struggled a little bit with the colour combo – I don’t have many polishes in brown or grey (i.e. one each!), it’s not a colour combo that I’d normally choose to put together, and it’s not really related to many things that you find in nature like last month’s challenge (red, orange and yellow) was. So, definitely a challenge!

One of the rules with Tripolish is that you stick to the same polishes for the whole month, so this month I’ve chosen

  • Barry M in Mushroom (brown)
  • Nails Inc in The Southbank (grey)
  • Essie in We’re All In It Together (pink)

So, without further ado, here goes!

Sparkly Chevrons & Dots

image

There’s SO much going on in this mani! I created it by

  1. Two coats of Barry M Gelly in Blueberry across the whole nail
  2. One coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust across the whole nail
  3. Using a dotting tool, apply polka dots using China Glaze Tart-y For The Party
  4. Using a long, thin nail art brush, draw two lines from the cuticle to the tip, and then fill in the sides using Barry M Gelly in Lychee.
  5. Add a top coat – I used Seche Vite

I like this design because putting the polka dots over the subtly glittery Fairy Dust gave the effect that they were floating

Chevron Studs

Rather simple, and I like this design so much I’ve done it twice now!

Two coats of Barry M Gelly in Lychee to start with. Then, using a nail art brush, two coats of Barry M Gelly in Blueberry in the shape of a triangle. Once that’s dry, add a coat of your favourite clear top coat, and then stick a stud on the point of the triangle. Finally, add another clear top coat on to seal in the stud.

Theme Buffet: Geometric

Another day, another challenge! I was inspired by this avatar that I saw on the internet – and as all good nail art bloggers do, I decided to turn it into nail art!

The base is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and the colours are Rimmel Lycra Pro in Navy Seal, Barry M Lemon Ice Cream, and Nails Inc King Edward Street.

I did the lines in a Barry M nail art pen in black. Unfortunately it all decided to crack (WHYYY??) but that’s life I suppose!

Triangle Tips II

imageThis post is called triangle tips II – you can see the original triangle-related post here

I created this design with two coats of Barry M in 334 Teal. It’s a gorgeous duochrome, and to be honest the pictures here don’t do it justice. The triangles were painted on using a Rio nail art pen in white – the brush part for the thicker triangles, and the pen for the thinner ones.

Triangle Tips

Painted freehand – white first, then red, then black. It definitely would have been neater if I’d used striping tape, but oh well!

Created using: OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Rio Pen in Red and Rio Pen in Black.
